This project was a small needs assessment project funded solely by MUD Africa and its members. The aim of the project was to collect data for future projects, by involving rights holders in the four settlements of: Yepa; Mphonde; Chakhutamadzi, and Chigoneka in Lilongwe.
The needs assessment project ended during mid-2019 and found that the above mentioned settlements lacked access to basic services (i.e. water, hospitals), suffered from insecure land tenure and rights, but also suffered from severe environmental problems caused by waste dumping and surrounding factories causing airborn pollution.
The findings will be used as baseline values for a future project, with a planned starting during first quarter of 2020.
