About MUD Africa: MUD (Mobilizing & Uniting Development) Africa is a Non-governmental organisation (NGO) with the overarching goal is to improve the living conditions of poor households by promoting equal land rights.
About the project Equal Land Rights for All Lilongwe (ELRFAL) is project funded by Forum Syd that is implemented during 2016-2017. As an intern you will play a key role assisting MUD Africa in the field with several tasks.
The project Equal Land Rights for All Lilongwe is targeting women and men in Lilongwe peri-urban settlements. The aim is to increase the knowledge on equal land rights within the settlements and that the inhabitants are empowered to use the knowledge to use their right to access land through registration.
Lilongwe Urban Poor People’s Network (LUPPEN) is our partner organization and is implementing the project.
As an intern the second semester 2017 you will be a part of the implementation of the final activities of the project Equal Land Rights for All Lilongwe. You will be focusing on strengthening our local partner, advocacy work as well as contributing to the reports requested by our funder Forum Syd.
Purpose of the internship is to support in following areas (not limited to):
- Support in project management
- Following up on indicators
- Support in reporting on activities in the field
Required skills: The applicant should be involved in an education in political science, international development, and social science or similar. In addition the applicant should have analytical skills and understand the concept of working with a bottom up perspective where the local partner organization plays the key role.
- Fluent in English
- Strong analytical skills
- Experience or strong will to work in a developing country
- Interest in poverty reduction and related issues
Duration of training period: August/September 2017 – December/January 2018
Compensation: MUD Africa is able to provide support (5 000 SEK). It does not cover all expenses of the internship.
Location: Sweden (Gothenburg)/Malawi (Lilongwe)
